Come find your wilderness!
A River Runs Through It
The North Fork of the Cache La Poudre runs through the ranch that has an excellent variety of species of trout. We also have a Stocked Rainbow trout pond! We provide you with Orvis top-of-the-line rods/reels. We also have our very own certified fly-fishing instructor available for a half-day of instruction for both beginner and experienced anglers. The ranch's private stretch of river yields a high population of Brown trout for your fishing success.
It's a Wild Ride
River Rafting - You will love the thrill of rafting the Cache La Poudre River (class II and III). We hire Rocky Mountain Adventures, an independent outfitter, as a guarantee you will be in the hands of experts. They use six-man rubber rafts and provide life jackets. The age minimum is 7 years, and the kid's counselors will take care of the younger children while the rest of the family is on the river.
Dependent upon water conditions, this trip is offered from the end of May through August. So keep your spirits high and feet dry!
While the horseback riding is exceptional, it isn't all there is to do! Our 300-acre ranch is surrounded by the wild and scenic Roosevelt National Forest where guests see pronghorn, deer, elk, coyote, moose, eagle, hawk, fox, beaver, and rattlesnake.
Whether you are exploring the miles of trails on foot, or just relaxing on your porch swing, you will marvel at all of the wildlife here.
Clownin' Around at the Rodeo
Test your skills at our rodeo. Here’s your chance to run barrels, the keyhole race, and pole bending as fast as you can! Participate in the egg toss, boot race, pudding race, and more. The ranch's rodeo, or gymcana, is best described as games on horses.
Our rodeo clowns are full of goofy antics and always wear a smile! Join in on the laughter and fun.
See the Sights
Sightseeing Trips - The day trip to Rocky Mountain National Park begins with the drive up the spectacular Big Thompson Canyon into Estes Park, Colorado. From there we will escort you into Rocky Mountain National Park where a chance encounter with a herd of elk or a bighorn sheep may occur. Lunch is served picnic-style at a roadside park.
Just sit back and take pictures - all details are taken care of for you!
We also offer a trip to the Territorial Park in Laramie, Wyoming where Butch Cassidy was held prisoner back when the West was truly wild. The National U.S. Marshals Museum is also located within the Territorial Park near the Wyoming Frontier Town, where Calamity Jane and other Old West characters roam the streets. Definitely a trip for educational fun!
From the very young to grandma, come try your hand-eye coordination with our skeet shooting, offered once a week! We provide the instructions, a safe location, and the supplies, all you have to do is aim and fire!!
Children and adults go crazy being able to ride bikes freely without any chance of run-ins with vehicles. Take one of the mountain bikes, provided by the ranch, and go loosen those leg muscles that you are going to need when you saddle up. The biking is unguided.
Try your hand at rustlin’ cattle. The goal of the game is to put each numbered cow, in numerical order, from one pen into another. Working as a team with your horse, this activity is a blast! Move quickly and efficiently to get your best time!
For all you cowboys and cowgirls that have always dreamed of being able to rope off your horse, here is the first step. We provide you with the ropes, roping dummies, and the instructions to get started on your roping career. These lessons focus on teaching you the parts of the rope, how to handle the rope, swinging your rope, and eventually roping the dummy on the ground! Practice makes perfect.
Join us in our horsemanship class and we will show you how to properly handle a horse and how to saddle your own horse! No age limit. It’s fun getting to know a little bit more about these incredible animals.
