Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Why are you less expensive than most other ranches?
A: Our rates were $1100 from 1992-2000! We have only raised our rates twice in an eight year period. At $1625 for adults, $1120 for 6-12 yr olds, and $920 for 3-5 yr olds we feel that we are a 'big bang for the buck!' Compare our activities/accommodations/program/food with other ranches that are sometimes $400-$800 more. As previous guests we know how expensive it can be to bring a family of six to experience a dude ranch vacation. While it was our very best vacation, it must be affordable! Our aim is to keep it affordable for the American family!

Q: Can we trot/lope at your ranch?
A: Yes. It is our goal to have all of our guests experience what trotting and loping is! While safety is our number one priority, we realize that having fun is also very important! Our insurance coverage is strict in that one of our wranglers must be in front of the riders at all times. When you sign up for a 'fast' ride, a 'fast' ride is exactly what you are going to receive! We have designated areas where we feel the footing is excellent for loping and moving along at a nice clip. Important to remember is that our horses do have blood running through their veins and do require prudent amounts of both rest and exercise!

Q: Is the riding all nose-to-tail?
A: No. Depending on the ability of the riders to control their horse, we do allow you to ride side by side on designated trails.

Q: Is the riding all steep terrain?
A: No. We have trails that do ascend up to some gorgeous overlooks, but we also are fortunate to have some beautiful meadows in which to ride through. One guest said it best when he said "there hasn't been one bad view from my horse's back this week!" our terrain is very varied.

Q: Can we ride as a family?
A: Certainly. While our children's program is excellent, we do encourage you to ride as a family while vacationing at our ranch. That is what a 'family' vacation is all about! If your children are novice riders, it is of great benefit to allow us to have them for at least a couple of days to get them confident in the saddle.

Q: What if someone in the family isn't a rider?
A: There is lots to do at our ranch even if you aren't a rider! We have activities such as: fly-fishing instruction with our very own Orvis guide, mountain biking, nature walk, mountain hiking, skeet shooting, just to name a few. Remember you can always curl up on your porch swing with a good book to spend the day!

Q: Do you have a pool?
A: Yes, yes, yes!!!!!!!!

Q: Transportation to and from the ranch?
A: You can get to the ranch one of three ways, rent a car, take the limousine service or take advantage of our courtesy shuttle to Fort Collins and ride the Airport Express shuttle service. For more see transportation options.

Q: Do you accommodate special diets?
A: Definitely.

Q: Why do guests come back to you year after year?
A: Our guests return rate is 70% because you are only a stranger once here! We get to know you and your family on a personal basis. Your happiness is our primary goal for seven days! It's one of the few places that you will visit that you aren't ready to go home! On our checkout Saturday, there isn't a dry eye on the porch of the lodge! When we say 'sad goodbyes' we mean it!

Low Season
Our low season is discounted because it is primarily focused on riding, riding, and more riding! Come ride the range in a smaller intimate group! Typically, our low season is for adults but we have accommodated families with children as well. If you're not locked into the summer months for vacation or interested in our organized activities and don't want any of the fluffy stuff, this is the perfect time for you to visit us! Fall in Colorado is absolutely beautiful with all of the aspen changing colors! The riding is spectacular!
